A_A, to futurology in Researchers say they've used cutting-edge gravitational wave research to shed new light on a nearly 2,000-year-old mystery.
@A_A@lemmy.world avatar

Clickbait debunking :
1st : it’s a mechanism / not a computer,
2nd : it has nothing to do with gravitational waves but rather with some mathematic that was use to study those waves, and
3rd : there is no mystery, just clickbait as usual.

A_A, to futurology in The disruption of labor by humanoid robots
@A_A@lemmy.world avatar

This article never say by which mechanism all the riches produce by the new robot technology replacing humans might be distributed to humans,
(although it hints that’s what may happen) and so the main interpretation of this article would be the probable disparation of humanity.

A_A, to futurology in Artificial Lymph Nodes Teaches T Cells To Kill Cancer
@A_A@lemmy.world avatar

Wow !

For the current study, the team used hyaluronic acid as the scaffolding, or base, for their new lymph node, and added MHC (major histocompatibility complex) or HLA (human histocompatibility antigen) molecules, which rev up T cells and other immune system components. Then, they also added molecules and antigens common to cancer cells to “teach” T cells what to look for.

A_A, to futurology in With self-install solar panels, and a €150 plug-in adapter that feeds power directly into electricity sockets; a DIY home power system is becoming popular in Europe.

Thanks for rewriting the title and make it straightforward …as the original headline from “The Verge” was confusing and useless (for me).

A_A, to futurology in We're about to have our privacy dramatically reduced in desktop computing. Some people think the solution is an open-source OS, but one that isn't Linux.

Haiku (operating system)
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku_(operating_system)

Haiku, originally OpenBeOS, is a...… free and open-source operating system for personal computers. It is a community-driven continuation of BeOS and aims to be binary-compatible with it, but is largely a reimplementation with the exception of certain components like the Deskbar.[7] The Haiku project began in 2001, supported by the nonprofit Haiku Inc., and the operating system remains in beta.

a.i. functions differently than human minds and so at times it appears very intelligent and a time very stupid … in fact it is simply different.
Let’s make the best of our differences.

A_A, to futurology in A group of Chinese companies, including Xiaomi and UBTech, have launched an open-source humanoid robot.
@A_A@lemmy.world avatar

They say it has 6 axis per leg and 3 axis per arm … I’d rather it have 4 axis per leg and 5 axis per arm.
But it’s very promising and most likely will be the first affordable humanoid robot.
