End of war possible when Putin realises he will not win – Polish Foreign Minister (www.pravda.com.ua)

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has said that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin will likely end the war against Ukraine only when he feels that he cannot win it, and it is dangerous to hope for any further agreements with Russia.

DessertStorms,

Lmmfao, yeah, because Putin really seems like the gracious loser type.. 🙄
Unless by "end of the war" this minister means going nuclear, because that's infinitely more likely than him accepting defeat in any way shape or form.
Like, seriously, how deep in the sand does ones head have to be to think otherwise?🤦‍♀️

DessertStorms,

This reminded me of those msn messenger nudges from back in the day.. I'm definitely not the target audience this time around.. 😂

/kbin March update (kbin.social)

I'm feeling a bit better. Starting today, I'll be returning to work as much as possible. This week will likely be spent catching up on tasks, replying to emails, reading overdue comments, etc. I also need to work with Piotr on instance infrastructure. I'll be more actively handling spam as well, but it's clear that we need...

DessertStorms,

I have very little relevant skill so I won't offer any help lol but it's good to see you around, glad to hear things are settling down for you a little.

DessertStorms,

Will this also migrate my blocked lists (instances, magazines, and users)?
If not, does anyone know of a similar tool that will?
I've been trying out other kbin/mbin instances since the recent issues with kbin.social's lack of federation, hoping to open an alt there for backup, but having to manually recreate my block lists isn't something I'm really wanting to do..

DessertStorms, (edited )

Ok, thanks. And thanks for making the tool in the first place!

I think for me, at least at the moment the frustration with kbin.social is still less than that of having to start over on a new instance, so I'll wait it out for now, and hopefully migration tools will continue evolving so it becomes less and less of a hassle as time goes on (I would gladly contribute if I had any relevant knowhow myself, unfortunately that's not the case).

DessertStorms,

Go through any and all available privacy and permissions settings and make sure you're not sending a bunch of info you don't want to be to xioami and google (and any app you download)

DessertStorms,

My comment had nothing to do with xioami being Chinese, a corporation is a corporation and they're all trying to collect as much of your data as possible, I guess you can let them if you want lol ¯*(ツ)*/¯

DessertStorms,

Ha, fair enough..

It's just the first thing I do with a new phone is make sure privacy is as tight as I can get it (without rooting since I'm not confident enough to do that), so that was my recommendation to you.. I also have an older xiaomi, and a newer honor (from after their split with huawei), neither are amazing but they do the same job for so much cheaper, I really can't see why people insist on spending thousands when you can spend hundreds for pretty much the same thing..

Opinion: Tucker Carlson visiting Moscow is like touring Berlin in 1940 (kyivindependent.com)

Former Fox News anchor and far-right commentator Tucker Carlson recently completed his speaking tour of Canada. Apparently, he wants to “liberate” us from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Carlson is now visiting Moscow to convene with the paragon of freedom and democracy himself: Russian President Vladimir Putin. The last few...

The person who wrote this and anyone else who still thinks that America is some bastion of freedom and morality and who find the mere idea of one touring Berlin in 1940 (they didn't only tour Berlin, but much much worse), or in Moscow 2024, shocking, really needs a history refresher.

Hitler wasn't only inspired by American genocide and race laws, but he had many friends all across the allied world, before, during and after the war (because Nazis never went away, they just learned to stay behind closed doors, often in the corridors of power).

Something like The U.S. and the Holocaust should be compulsory viewing, since we're not being allowed to learn from it, so are doomed to repeat it, as is happening already.

DessertStorms,

I tend to use it, but also Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma? (or more seriously) So I don't really care or usually even notice if others do, since in 99% of cases you can understand from context what someone means, and if you still don't, you can ask (and have a little chuckle together at a possibly absurd result to the omission)..

DessertStorms,

I always assume that repeat errors on the user end means significantly more to deal with on your end, but it's clear you're doing your best to keep everything going, so I try my best not to get frustrated lol

Hope you've managed to have some time to enjoy the holidays despite all of this!

DessertStorms,

I'm sure you're aware there has been an issue with people/bots spamming CP on some lemmy instances, I'm not sure if I happened to see them before removal, or if removal still isn't federating properly (since I know the admins/mods have been trying to implement additional solutions), either way, these posts were still showing up on all/new last night/early this morning (GMT), so it might just be worth double checking on your end if there is any way to stop this.
