Honestly the only reason I use protonmail is not because they proclaim to love privacy because no email service is private, but because they don't scrape my information sell it.

And if they do it's not blatantly obvious.

Plus I just like their dark themes better.

So, its fair to say that proton is not perfect anonymous, but its also fair to say that the court decision to spy on a french activist is fucked and that they complied with the law
