Today's social media transform us into merely numbers.
No problem for me.

You can write a reason when you report a post. Are you actually seeing that as a moderator?

I'm seeing more microblog posts (kbin.social)

Is anyone else? One of the reasons I was interested in /kbin over other options was this feature, but I don't remember seeing them on subscribed or all. Is this new? I'm kind of intimidated by it but ultimately know I want to interact. I'm seeing some cool stuff! It's all on magazines I have subscribed to.

It was available from day one of kbin.social. And even earlier.

Deykun, to kbinMeta

No, it's not hot. It's fucking ridiculous.

@Deykun @ernest's owned magazines be like:
(did not have the time to look at mod requests)

What is the practical difference between the main instances of kbin and mbin, from a users perspective? (kbin.social)

When spam started to become overwhelming here I signed up to the largest mbin instance, Fedia.io. On one hand it runs well and isn't overrun with spam posts. On the other, it's missing some communities that are active on kbin.social....

Interstellar app will not work on kbin.social, because this server has not opened its API yet. For the app you have to use either a Mbin instance or (for vanilla /kbin experience) kbin.earth

I can only check federation with our mastodon server (pol.social), and now is very quickly (about seconds).

Checked with mastodon.com.pl and 101010.pl - both received my boost in seconds.

Test magazines on Szmer, Sopuli, lemm.ee and Piefed received my posts in seconds.

Low salaries and pensions more important for Russians than the invasion on Ukraine (klubjagiellonski.pl)

Opposition to the 2nd wave of mass mobilization in Russia has increased from 60% in December 2022 to approximately three-quarters. While historical narratives may resonate, the majority of Russians are now more concerned about their quality of life and economic stability.

API has not been enabled on kbin.social yet, but is already active on https://kbin.earth

This time, another official /kbin server, in Polish (karab.in) was working during all the kbin.social's sleep.

I will repost my comment from https://kbin.social/m/fediverse@lemmy.world/t/838165/What-s-going-on-with-kbin-social

This time is probably unrelated to @ernest's supposed inactivity. Actually, his another /kbin server, https://karab.in has been brought back on 15 of February.

Why not kbin.social? Well, this server is co-administered by FTdL (Technology for People Foundation) (https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/177112).

Entire FTdL infrastructure was down from 16 o'clock in Cracow to this morning.

Posting the same link to 3 magazines is enough IMO. Your /kbin account can be followed via Mastodon and similar services, and Mastodon interprets crossposting as completely different posts.

@Kierunkowy74@kbin.social avatar

They appear as another toot - with title, summary (shortened if it is long) and link. Like shown on an image.

(BTW this means, that articles will not be shown in their entirety, contrary to microblog posts)

Kierunkowy74,
@Kierunkowy74@kbin.social avatar

Forgot to say, but all /kbin posts will have at least one hashtag - the name of the magazine.

A) Appoint more administrator (or other system roles with the ability to block/delete spam accounts)

@ernest already wanted to do this back in this autumn. It looks, that /kbin software actually was not ready to this, though. :/

I'm using on and tried to rollback it to previous remaster. However, I had updated the kernel to newer version before.
In effect, the OS "didn't finish up booting", or, rather threw (as I saw after Alt-F1) an (uncritical) error about new kernel unavailable and booted up to CLI. To recover from this, I used the same live-kernel-updater, but rolled back the kernel version instead of updating. This recovered the system.

This should be helpful also for users as both distros share their LiveUSB utilities.

According to https://fediverse.observer, these are largest threadiverse instances by MAU (but pay attention to different method of counting active users between instances...):

lemmy.world - 11 344
kbin.social - 5 134
lemmynsfw.com - 4 276
lemmy.ml - 3 097
feddit.de - 2 873
lemm.ee - 2 202

largest /mbin instance - fedia.io is 221, and it is 2?th by active users
second largest /kbin instance is karab.in and it has 38 MAU

A case for preemptively defederating with Threads (kbin.social)

With Meta beginning to test federation, there's a lot of discussion as to whether we should preemptively defederate with Threads. I made a post about the question, and it seems that opinions differ a lot among people on Kbin. There were a lot of arguments for and against regarding ads, privacy, and content quality, but I don't...

@Kierunkowy74@kbin.social avatar

Threads is the smaller player here compared to twitter/bluesky.

Smaller than X, yes, but it's already bigger than Bluesky. And with its Instagram integration it can be bigger even than X-Twitter.
