When I was a teenager I slipped and fell backwards at the beach and hit the back of my head on concrete, and exhibited light concussion symptoms for half a day afterwards. As I was falling backwards I had a good second and a half to go "well, this may be it, whether I'm ready or not".

They sort of are, as fanny packs, but it's probably because traditional backpacks can be heavy, and leaning forward to control balance is far easier than bending backwards, our spines just aren't really made for it, so backpack makes more ergonomic sense.

That's part of why there's a new fork called Mbin with more active contributors than official Kbin. And Lemmy did get a headstart on Kbin, it was first by a while. Ernest is definitely still working on Kbin, though.
