The transsexual dyke your liberal columnists warned you about.

Part-time woman, full-time nuisance. May contain traces of neurodivergence. Cisn't. Now you say ‘pronouns in bio’ because you have no other jokes.

Anti-fascism. Intersectional & queer feminism. Prison abolition. Liberation for all. International solidarity. I've been around long enough to see every discourse several times over, so spare me the bullshit.

Thank fuck not American.

THE HYPOCRISY. IS. THE POINT.

I need people to understand this. Modern-day right-wing has no integrity. No rules. They don't believe in rules, concepts, cohesive ideologies.

They want to do what they want to do, when they want to do it, how they want to do it, to whom they want to do it.

The thought of being beholden to any rules or restrictions is abhorrent to them. Even and especially ones they themselves laid down. The law, this is their core belief, is something they make for other people to obey.

Being required to act on things they previously said, having to resolve inconsistencies between their positions, having to uphold things they ostensibly believe in, is oppression in their eyes.

This is why any and all "haha you contradicted yourself, gotcha" will not work. Never has, never will.

Ultimate freedom, as far as they're concerned, is the freedom from your own words. Freedom from accountability.

Freedom from truth, logic, facts, consistency, integrity.

They want to live in the moment. They want to say "the constitution guarantees me the right to not be background checked for a firearm because that's government overreach" today and demand that the government build gas chambers for undesireables tomorrow. Today they love the police for arresting the homeless, tomorrow they're outraged if the police arrests a nazi terrorist.

And ultimately, they want no government. They believe they don't need one. They believe "we", the "normal" people, the only "the people", meaning white men (straight, abled, christian, yadda yadda) can run the world without needing a government. They believe they can enforce their rights with a gun. They dream of the wild west 2.0 where normal people (people who believe the same as them) live by common sense (their shared racism and other assorted bigotries), where a man rules his woman and keeps his neighbourhood free of black and queer people with violence. There will be no police in their utopia, because every man can just kill burglars, black people, gay sons, and unfaithful wives himself.

They believe what they want at any given moment is the right thing, even and especially if it contradicts yesterday's right thing.

Government is a tool for them, to destroy the law and then abolish itself. Every ruling SCOTUS hands down represents not what Republicans believe, but whatever line of reasoning is most convenient for them in the moment. Every constitutional belief they claim to espouse is simply the weapon of choice to destroy another regulation, another institution.

The hypocrisy is the point.

It's kinda depressing how tumblr is imploding now and I'm seeing half my follow list go "man, after seeing both twitter and tumblr do this, it's really showing how it's a bad idea for a social media network to be run by a company who can make arbitrary changes without user consent.

anyway, here's my bsky: ..."

@foone fucking yes. I've been lobbying for the fediverse on Twitter for two years now, offering help and tech support and explanations to anyone wanting to migrate, I've been emphasiszing that there are software (softwares?) other than Mastodon and pointing out GoToSocial, PeerTube, Pixelfed, etc.; I've been pointing out that Bluesky originated as a Dorsey-led Twitter spin-off, I've been highlighting Bluesky's tech and moderation failures, etc. etc.

...and I've gotten zero. Nothing. People either bring up superficial discourses like "but the admins read your DMs!", follow influencers who came to "Mastodon" and ragequit when their attempts to impose their Twitter habits on the network didn't work, or at best people signed up to mastodon.social, had bad experiences because it's mastodon.social, and quit.

But people hand out Bluesky invites left and right. Even people I know are on the fediverse and enjoy it here.

If a corporate platform restricts who can join, it's "exclusive", when they impose bad rules, it's "growing pains", when they have technical failures, it's "innovative".

When we do it, it's "elitist", "censorship", and "only for nerds".

We just can't win.
