Honestly something I've noticed about modern "left-right" politics is how to leftists, both parties are on the right and the furthest right they've been in memorable history, and to rightists it's the opposite.

@arcana they aren't. i don't remember the name of the paper but academics did surveys and found congress has a near zero correlation with public opinion
@PurpCat See I’ve seen this theory but it doesn’t account for a similar chart in other countries like the UK, and it’s a very different modus operandi. There also haven’t actually been that many school shootings, they’re inflated in the public memory but they’re actually fairly rare, and a different offender profile
