@susie @coolboymew @mangeurdenuage if someone wanted to design indie games in the style of goldeneye 64 are there any usb controllers that are like an n64 controller?

i tried at a some stores recently but they didn't seem to which surprised me, it would need to have the c buttons tho, not a c-stick.

@icedquinn i was able to see it on the mitra front end, btc transactions consume 1.5 months of air conditioner use...? it must be getting more effecient!!! last i heard it was YEARS lol.

seriously though, millions of ppl don't run an airconditioner EVER....to them this must be music to their ears! also considering the fact that as the available energy goes down so does the hashrate, also thanks to lihtning network i shouldn't need to have more than 4 or so open channels in a year to do infinite transactions in that year.

bitcoin is so dang incredible. in only wish the computers we produce could securely handle it :aru_0100:

how longis it supposed to take to think about things, i'll start and 15 minutes evaporates by default. thats kind of my baseline these days.

@icedquinn i do that but this is for new thoughts, i seem to need to mediate over almost everything, lol.

@icedquinn it may come from using i2p quite a bit, the time delays allow it?

not yet mentioned in the cables, but there was one thing that was notable on june 21, 1973

Miller v. California was ruled on by the US SCOTUS, resulting in the Miller Test.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_v._California

This is one of those things that has defined what is / is not "obscene", and hence the limits of free expression & pornography both on the internet and broadly speaking.

This is interesting for 5 reasons

> The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled in United States v. Kilbride that a "national community standard" should be used for the Internet, but this has yet to be upheld at the national level.[13]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_test

ie there's an (US-)internet-level level of what's OK and what's not OK (for example : feet?) that the US justice system wants to base their rulings on, though they haven't figured out how to do this. Who will get to define what is and is not porn, on the internet? Is some kind of ethereum oracle up to the task? Chatgpt?? 4chan??? godhatesfags.com????

If the current supreme court is willing to go back and roll back roe v. wade, the miller test might also be up for grabs.

Although we are not bound by the miller test here in canada, we're going through this exact issue right now wrt . And what happens in the US has a tendency of coming north . . .

The actions of which this case is resolving the legality of, is yet another thing that happened in 1971

> "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value"

Is also likely what legalized Lenna's picture for standard use in image processing. It paved the way for playboy centerfolds to be used for because they uh had 'scientific value to computer science' yeah that's it.

indeed, the image was used after the court case ended

I'm super happy to report that i decided to spend a few minutes playing with css and its been several hours (i'm naughty like that but hey, why not).

the following is the result that i get with minor html and css that will be provided in next toot (please ignore grain for possible privacy added in gimp)

the html frames are still moveable by the user but they turn black when 1 pixel wide, i can add a light edge to each frame manually if you want, to bring out the frame border.

@frogzone@wizard.casa avatar

@nimda @silverpill @r @icedquinn @realcaseyrollins @p

HTML changes

  • For top frameset add attribute: cols="36%,*"
  • For both framesets border="1"
  • Use 🖉 (U+1F589, not 'edit' [profile])
  • Use ☺ (U+263A, remove "Emoji list" and place its entire <a> element before the 'NSFW' element)
  • add attribute 'placeholder="Your toot here 🖊"' (U+1F58A) (remove label above text box)
  • instead of 'public', try ⊜ (U+229C) and write a tooltip, aka title attribute, as "Public")
  • instead of 'unlisted', try ⊝ (U+229D) and write a tooltip as "Unlisted")
  • instead of 'private/followers only', try ⊚(U+229A) and write a tooltip as "Private/Followers only")
  • instead of 'direct', try ⊙(U+2299) and write a tooltip as "Direct message (DM)")
  • (NOTE: fyi there are the following additional glyphs available ⊛⊘⊕⊗🖂 so you can decide what you want to do. Can everyone see them in their browsers???)
  • instead of "refresh" alongside headings, try 🗘 (U+1F5D8)

>36% looks way too wide

hang on, you mean the left side looks too wide! i thought you meant eaelier that the right side looks too wide and i jus now realise you fix/hold the left side at 400ish px, which, to me makes the right side look way too wide when i widen. :P

By what you're telling me it sounds like the best remedy will be to measure everything in em, including margins and profile images, then we simply use media queries to change the font-size. then everything will look okay even on some massive 4k display etc. i can go ahead and do that.

@p are you still there, or have you moved to @p? you might be interested in knowing what we're discussing here.

frogzone,
@frogzone@wizard.casa avatar

@r @p @p @silverpill @icedquinn @nimda There are designers that use em for everything and im glad you compelled me to think about changing dimensions because now when I expand and contract frames/the browser, its basically ALWAYS awesome. :bananadance:

i'd like using svg a lot more if the @torproject team, whitelisted the parts of svg that wont burn us all...... :pensive_cowboy: maybe in the next decade we'll get them. hope spring eternal.

bye 4 now.

frogzone,
@frogzone@wizard.casa avatar

@nimda @r @p @silverpill @icedquinn ok i did the rest of the css, notable are the emoji and user profile pages.... see how the latter looks as you resize frame. Big user names, like jeffcliff's, no longer break the layout of the profile page. I also fixed a minor regression where i applied rounded edges to only the dark theme. Also fixes that the <h1> font-size wasn't scaling up properly, and a some other minor tweak. Where a change couldn't be tested, i say so. The needed HTML changes are unchanged from above (latest).

@nimda @silverpill @r @icedquinn @p if i may ask for something in return, it would be the hashtag-searching on mitra via bloat. its not working yet...not from the search interface, nor when clicking on a hashtag in someones toot.

Do tell me if u find something wrong, or weird-looking, also tell my when the html changes are done so i can do 2 finishing touches to the css

thanks and enjoy :)

@frogzone@wizard.casa avatar

@r @nimda @silverpill @icedquinn @p oh nice! that would be good, thanks. thats what i assumed search by "statuses" was because thats just how search works on mastodon iirc (fwiw "statuses" search is not working for mitra via bloat either). i prefer using hashtags for topics... don't really need to be found based on random word choices, typically when publishing something i'll use a few hashtags.

People are led to believe that Putin was responsible for the death of Navalny, possibly to pave the way for Julian Assange's murder. If the US is signalling a warmer stance toward Assange it could be to generate goodwill to lighten the impact of his eventual murder.

Its a dangerous time for Assange.

Please support him by downloading the (currently encrypted) 80GB insurance file.

Jump on the I2P torrent site, find the insurance file and start downloading it. If Julian Assange is ever murdered, you will be on the frontlines, decrypting the file and exposing possible crimes of Rupert Murdoch and possibly others.

its pretty obvious to any observer that the death of navalny was about trying to hurt putin after his very salient 2 hour interview. Its becoming clear ukraine has some kind of access to the prison where navalny was.

it also highlights how is likely only alive today because rupert murdoch is still alive. In 2012 assange and published a set of insurance files that compromise rupert murdoch. If assange dies in prison the password to the encrypted files will be released and the ugly face of media manipulation over generations will be revealed.

If i'd guess, i'd say rupert will be found to've been controlled at a young age by compromising epstein-style blackmail operation. possibly homosexuality, back in rupert's day if you were found to be homosexual it woulld end your career.

Do publishers like and still have this control over academic research? I've been thinking about the ethics generally. This is just another nail in the coffin. So much so-called "academic research" appears to be "patently" unethical. (mind the pun)

Does this corporate capture still exist? Post 's alleged suicide and his links to big money and 's administration, my suspicions are raised as to whether Aaron Swartz really committed suicide.

No one cares what fu$king muskrat thinks.

He's been proven a shill, a liar, and duplicitous on so many occasions that I'm not even going to try and summarize. I mask-out musk from my browsing experience. All I know is muskrat is spewing some crap and have no idea what the subject of that crap is.

@icedquinn wasn't open.ai always on microsoft servers, tho. 'bigtech-ai-serving-bigtech' is not a difficult conclusion to reach.

i personally take solace in blocking bigtech 97 percent of the time, its incredibly liberating to say, no i can't use your service because its hosted on amazon, cloudflare etc and i have some basic standards in my life to reject evil.

i think that was the point all along and still is.
