I can't find anything on the specifics of how federation actually works. The op thread gets copied to any federated server? What happens if the thread is deleted on the op server? Does it still exist on all other federated servers? How do comments and votes work? That kind of thing.
Right now, downvotes (reduces) don't federate to (and from?) Kbin instances. This lack of federation makes the downvote counter really inaccurate—a comment that looks like it's +10 might be -15 when you look at it from lemmy.world....
So I like the random posts and threads sections on the main page as they help me find new content, but all too often, they're filled with posts from accounts that I have already blocked. Could we modify these sections to filter out blocked users?
When I first joined Kbin I posted threads due to being a reddit refugee but have started posting microblogs as time went on. I have also noticed some magazines have more threads while others have more microblog posts. For example kbinmeta has more threads while the most active magazine I moderate has mostly microblogs.
@Ernest has pushed an update which allows users to request ownership/moderation of abandoned magazines. Ghost/abandoned magazines were fairly prevalent after the initial wave of hype due to users either squatting magazine names or becoming inactive for other reasons. Now is your chance to get involved, if you were waiting to do...
I dislike the idea of clicking a link in a Kbin app, which opens the link separately in a browser app, then closing the tab, then closing the browser app, then going back to the Kbin app....
The ability to 'boost' your own comments/threads has been used by a very small number of users in a way that seriously degrades conversation on the platform. These users constantly move their own contributions to the top of the conversation without regard to their value. If allowed to continue it will likely become standard for...
Still no API to enable official apps and no moderation tools. It really feels like it's lagging behind Lemmy at this point. Lemmy's growth has significantly outpaced kbin and it feels like it's going to just die a slow death now....
From today, I'm starting a small series of daily devlogs where I'll be describing the changes being implemented before the official release of the first version of /kbin. As I mentioned earlier, I had some minor turbulence in my private life from which I'm slowly emerging. I have partially stabilized my life situation in various...
Reddit did have 3rd party Windows PC apps even tho it didn't have its own official app for Windows PC so i'm wondering if it will be the same for Kbin?
For clarification, I am not talking about using multiple accounts. I am talking about using a single account, and giving your own post a single upvote....
So, I want to see bch@lemmy.world, however, when opening it here it's just a 404. There are also a few other communities that when searched isn't present. Why?
/kbin is certainly not dying, as @fr0g pointed out, work on new features and bug fixes is ongoing. However, it may give the impression that it is, and for that, I take full responsibility and owe you an explanation....
Just wondering if anyone as taken Google's Generative AI training. I am interested in learning more (and it is free), but I was curious if it was worth the time investment....
