Seems kind of useless, unless you can restore older versions of apps (e.g. dev sells out or goes rogue).

Except it won’t archive Googles own apps of course. The ones who keep running in the background spying on all activity.

Seems like a way of saying deleting the app without deleting your data. I guess most users must not be regularly pruning unused apps to make this a desired feature.

Seems like it. I think it’s called “Offloading” on iOS.

While it’s nice that it ensure data is preserved, the fact that the app has to be downloaded again makes it just meh. I want to have apps frozen when I don’t want to use them, and instantly available when I do. I have several apps in shelter to mimic this behavior.
