As a paraphile, my anti-paraphile (now ex) friend asked me, "Why can't you just hide it?"

"Why do you have to be proud?"

"Why do you need flags?"

"Why are you trying to NORMALIZE it?"

Even after I explained the gruesome ways in which paraphiles have been killed and hurt over decades for merely existing, they still refused to listen to me.

We deserve to be PROUD of all we've been put through. We deserve to be PROUD of surviving despite everything the universe has thrown against us -- inwardly AND outwardly. We deserve to be proud for being non-harmful towards non-consenting individuals.

Normalizing our conditions/sexualities is the only way for us to feel like our lives aren't on the on the line. It's the only way for us to not feel worthless. It's the only way for us to not feel like we are hiding something from everyone around us.

It's not "shoving it in your face" for us to want to feel represented and free.

If you can't understand that, you clearly don't actually care at all. It's a very simple concept that only takes a little bit of sympathy and ethics to grasp.
