i love it how in activitypub the ""unique"" username is referred to as the "preferredName"
to me that makes it sound like the display name, since it has ""preferred"" in the name
whatever, big deal
that's until you realize that the "name" property, which is for display names, is described on w3 as being the "preferred" name
name The preferred "nickname" or "display name" of the actor. preferredUsername A short username which may be used to refer to the actor, with no uniqueness guarantees.
