Whenever the word vegan is uttered I prepare for the worst. There's no funny business with 20,000 cancer-causing forever chemicals? You've actually wrapped your sushi in real seaweed? The vegetables inside are real vegetables?
@rher@alex Idk man people can eat just fine without meat and with very low animal product. I do think the occasional low tier mollusk would benefit vegans for the essential nutrients and because those things are barely a step above mushrooms in complexity.
See that's an interesting question, where do you draw the line with veganism? Using suffering as the dividing line between kosher and non-kosher isn't ideal, because all plants can feel pain and scream ultrasonic death-screams as they're felled. Going with the idea to it's fullest extent gives you those weird vegetarians who only eat fruit that has naturally fallen to the ground.
@rher@alex@BowsacNoodle it's a false argument because critters die when land is taken for agriculture, and vegans obsessed with quinoa take resources from the locals in south america. They're out of touch with reality.
