Windows 11 doesn't work well with USB Mass Storage 🥴

That's the reason for the flash drive.... TO GET MY FILES AWAY FROM IT

By golly, an rsync transfer would be faster than this.

My dad gave me an hp all-in-one because he got a new cpu, but he wanted me to back up his files first. Computer was slow af and 15gb to a USB2 took 26 hours in windows 11. Installed kde plasma on the machine. Tested the same usb port on the same type of drive. It took about an hour. Machine runs smooth. SMFH.

It's horrible!
"USB 3.2 GEN 1 IS LIGHTNING FAST" they say!!!

I even tried to format it as NTFS with my ubuntu server and then windows just refused to do anything except list it in device manager.

The best write speed I could get on it was 6 MEGABYTES PER SECOND

WHAT IS THIS, 2003??????

NTFS doesn't play nice with linux even with drivers. Fat32 is the only way to go if you have to move between machines and can't use samba, because sftp on windows is shit. 😒

rsync in WSL is the only way I found to actually transfer files fast over local network

I use rsync if I need to move a ton of files. If it's a one off, I'll use sftp.
