@binkle@Rocc@shibao Geophagy is pretty common in some African cultures, and I'm pretty sure pica is most commonly suffered by black people. There's apparently some actual nutritional value to certain types of clay found in a part of Africa prone to famine and food shortages, which has lead to consuming that clay becoming a traditional part of the culture in that area. Unfortunately I can't remember which country it was, since its been a long time since I've read about it. Iirc, consuming corn starch was often linked to having ancestry from the cultures where geophagy was common. Weird craving that's just hardwired into certain people as a response to certain vitamin deficiencies, like how white women often get severe cravings for pickles during pregnancy.
