this gab thing reminds me of what people had suggested we do to generate more income -- one of the suggestions was to limit uploads to people who are donors/patrons. i pushed back on the idea because it's jewish behavior to retroactively change or limit the functionality of a website to drum up income. if we ever were in that position i would just limit filesizes for the short term to curb the issue.
this is surely a death knell for gab and i will be very surprised if its not an exit scam
@gabRefugee the cost of storage has been historically going down. his reasoning just makes no sense. the backend software is actually a modified version of Mastodon and mastodon transcodes every video uploaded to ensure maximum compatibility which often shrinks filesizes dramatically. there's no way some people on gab have 100GB in uploads and if they do, there's no way he couldn't afford a couple dozen 20TB drives to deal with it. the whole thing is off

@VaxxSabbath@graf@gabRefugee My theory is that after he completed his hunt for (((investors))) just a few months ago, they are now demanding he increases profits. This was never about storage, it was about fleecing the freeloaders.
