@pernia@succucirno this is possibly the best news I've heard in a decade and could represent a complete transformation of my entire industry away from being dogshit
@pernia@succucirno@binkle i figured i may have been articulating that poorly, i mean to day it would open up an external random access memory vessel for processing executions at a much higher level than the static memory could process. Not sure if that makes better sense
@pernia@Soy_Magnus@binkle@succucirno i learned athing from @jeffcliff he taught me all of this... I mean to say its random access meaning its fluid rather than dram (dedicated random access memory) meaning it can be used to process whatever it wants rather than being used for a dedicated program or process. Um, maybe @teknomunk may understand what im trying to say. Oh or maybe @mint he said he understands structures. Or maybe im just a regarded boglim
@binkle@pernia@succucirno I think the best part is it could prevent the move to digital only bullshit they've been trying to roll out to screw customers out of owning any games. If games even used 500GB of capacity regularly that would be enough to kill digital only distribution on consoles and shift the market back to physical. That's assuming AAA devs capable of making decent games though, so it may not be realistic.
@pernia@succucirno@icst i have trouble even imagining what games will do with that space besides be stupid and waste it all on frivolous bullshit but I'm sure my predecessors said the same thing about gigabytes :marseyshrug:
@RustyCrab@binkle@pernia@succucirno 4.7 GB single layer DVD is all anybody should ever need. also 2GB of RAM and a pentium IV cpu with ATI gpu in the AGP port all running windows 2000.
@icst@binkle@pernia@succucirno I ain't saying it's bad to have better hardware but does 50% of it have to go to rendering a button by dragging in 6 web frameworks
@binkle@succucirno@icst they're gonna they're gonna add a 4D render of a teacup that's only visible for 5 frames during the intro but its rendered every frame of the game regardless and its the heaviest object in the entire game
