I think men can tolerate being with women for decades because they view them as children and who doesn't love something cute and funny with occasional pranks(Spending 10k on jewelry)
If they wanted someone reliable and trustworthy they'd probably kill themselves from the despair consuming them as they witness the cruel reality of the world.
