@Lunar_Rabbit I had this TV as a kid except it was branded as JVC. I had gotten a sheet of stickers of all 150 Pokemon so I put them all around the bezel of the screen. It stayed like that for many years.
Those were the days. Man I still remember coming home from school just in time to watch the new episodes of Digimon.
Man, that was a fun time living out in the country with pastures, ponds, creaks, and cows.
Those were the days back when I would get in trouble because I'd have so much fun playing I'd lose track of time and next thing I knew it was dark. I miss those days. Star Fox 64 was my favourite game. 2023.0119_GR_42444_13x14x14_4.jpg 2023.0119_GR_42444_13x14x14_5.jpg
@sjw very relatable. Growing up in the late 90s and early 2000s was a fantastic time to be a kid. The companies behind all of these different franchises still had a soul. It was also a much simpler time
We didn't have smartphones ruining our ability to experience life and tracking you to no end.
I remember I got some walkie talkies from :radioshack: that had a range of 1 mile. They had just gotten some newer models in that had a range of 2 miles so the 1 mile ones were on sale.
I also had a remote control truck from :radioshack: and that thing took 8 AA batteries and would eat through them in about 45 minutes so after a few times of that I got :radioshack: rechargable Ni-MH batteries and a :radioshack: Ni-MH/Ni-Cd battery charger.
Actually because of that when I got a GBC and later a GBA batteries were never really an issue for me. I'd spend my allowance on Ni-MH batteries when they wore out because that was so much cheaper than buying alkaline batteries.
@sjw@Lunar_Rabbit@Pawlicker i remember going into Radioshack with my dad when I was 6 years old to buy a potentiometer because the volume on my little cassette radio stopped working and i was super sad about it. learned how to replace it that day and that was the first time i ever soldered anything
they sold Radioshack to some other company who opened stores as "The Source" which I recently found out is owned by a cell/internet/satellite tv provider so i stopped shopping there entirely
@graf@sjw@Lunar_Rabbit@Pawlicker it feels like the same company that bought radio shack bought pizza hut...and every other awesome store that i ever liked
@pirin04@sjw@Lunar_Rabbit@Pawlicker yum brands bought pizza hut, they also own taco bell, kfc. radioshack in canada is now the source which is owned by bell -- one of the "big three" telecom companies in canada
Around this time in history, I was discovering LSD and electronic dance music. Raves and drugs.
There was this one nightclub in Houston, the Orbit Room, that let minors in on Wednesday nights. $5 for 18+, $8 for under 18. I still lived with my folks, so Wednesday night I would put my car in neutral, push it down the street a few houses, hop in and away I'd go. I'd be getting to bed just as my parents' alarm clock was going off.
