i keep hearing black pills about AI art and then i go try out comfyui for a few hours and it mostly makes crap.

i must be missing something.

in one case i followed a tutorial on how to change photographs. masked out a face photo and gave it the instructions, and it literally just put out grey goo.

another time inpainted around some UI trash and gave it a prompt, and it just put splotchedy crap over the mask.

@sun from what i could see most of it is honestly having the hardware to make your own loras and checkpoints.

i was using the SD1.5 checkpoint and it was making shit, and when browsing civitai people are using dreambooths and inversions or alternate checkpoints out of china that weren't lobotomized

@iceloops @sun so i was using cpu mode which is slow and only doing like 5-10 cycles. maybe using LCMs or turbo would do a better job idk.

@icedquinn the best way to use AI art generation is to flesh out a concept enough that you can turn things over to a real artist to produce a final work, or to just rapidly create memes or other shit just for fun
