I fell for the no systemd meme which is why I run devuan instead of Debian. I have bedrock Linux so I think I'll try runit before giving up on alternative inits and reinstalling plain Debian.
@pernia@georgia you can't read. I'm referring to starting services after the network, not starting the network (though systemd-networkd does actually work pretty well so may as well use that to start the network if you want)
@shrimp@pernia@georgia all that shit worked without systemd for decades. systemd is okay now but it took years for it to compete with the reliability of a godawful ball of shell scripts.
I’m surprised more of you kids haven’t wrote an init system yet given how docker works. I wrote a distributed init system for syncing game servers on pods a few years back.
