@icedquinn@wolf480pl regulations agreed in EU parliament have to be implemented with national legislature - so it does have power, just less direct and constrained on paper to competences delegated to it in the treaties (not that it stops them)
@wolf480pl@icedquinn two reasons mostly:1. because EU elections are a joke and used as a way of dumping scandal-ridden or incompetent but nevertheless influential politicians away from the local political scene - where they would be visible and damage national party's reputation
2. because it's just illusory democracy where you elect someone but they still are in a EU-wide massive party, and follow their orders (which are a result of shady deals and agreements)
@wolf480pl@icedquinn more or less, but they're also incompetent and wholly unprepared to think critically about what they're voting for. EC - a fucking executive body - is also the only entitled party to propose legislation, and they tend to pack a lot of nasty shit alongside actually useful regulations. It's a fucked up system and it will not heal.
Maybe if the media started highlighting who voted for some bill, instead of letting the blame fall for "the EU", "the European Commision", "Ursula", and "Germans"
