It’s impossible to oppose youth liberation and also not be queerphobic in a way. If you think parents should have this much power over children legally without them having any possibility to leave this includes homophobic parents over queer children. If you think children need to be supervised to keep them safe, this also mean that a queer child could be outed by their homophobic parents going through their phone. If you think children are incapable of making decisions for themselves, you’re on the side of those who oppose helping trans kids to transition. If you agree with the stereotype of children as volatile you agree with parents who believe queerness is “just a phase”. It really surprises me that any queer adult would believe that children benefit from having their autonomy restricted and have others taking decisions for them, since it’s highly likely that rethoric was used to harm them in childhood. Is adultism such a powerful force that quite a few queer adults would rather see another generation of gay and trans kids suffer rather than kids being free?
