@TrevorGoodchild @graf

You can easily identify people who aren't grifters because they just start building systems. Maybe because of their day job they lack the money or time to build the systems as quickly or as effectively as they would like, but they are going to keep building regardless.

Some of these builders succeed in making something small but effective -- this the point when the rest of us get to step up and kick in a few bucks to help the process along. However, it's in everyone's interest for the original builder to remain the Benevolent Dictator for Life for the project -- no "committees", "stakeholders", "non-profit board members", "vulture capitalists" or other AIDS.

I do recommend that successful builders eventually find an apprentice who shares their passion for the project and who can demonstrate the necessary competence to continue it into the far future. The Rule of Two, so to speak.

@judgedread

From Gab:
"Gab spends nearly $200,000 a month to provide allegedly free speech.

Poast manages it for $2000 a month.

I say reward efficiency not idiocy."

Makes sense to me.

The IRS reporting threshold for annual gifts to individuals is $17,000. This means that any single individual with enough hatred of the vile jew censors and enough fake internet money could fund the site for over 8 months out of the year by himself.

Oh wait, it's been a good year in crypto so for 2024 that single individual is ME. MUAHAHAHAHAHA

I'll be right back.

Countermeasures,

@graf Okay I just sent a significant and appropriately racist amount of XMR to the donation account -- check and make sure it arrived safely so I can then send MOAR.

Countermeasures,

@graf Good, a larger nice round number of XMR just got sent over, that's the most I can send to one person each year. Hopefully you'll be able to do significant damage with this -- again let me know if it doesn't show up properly.

Now let's talk about salvaging all the poasts from FSE: is the cheapest way to do this to just get P the resources for new gear to bring the site back up or has that ship sailed?
