See, that's an April Fools joke I enjoy. Not making fun at the expense of someone, just being a bit cheeky and weird.

Bonus points for immediately resolving the weirdness instead of leaving people confused, for linking to an explanation of the in-joke (xkcd 624), and for adding a queer-friendly spin to it.

Well done, @Codeberg. 💜

A few days ago, my groovebox, the , running the new and awesome community-built firmware, crashed, which was very cool.

Not that it crashed, but what happened next: It displayed a colorful pattern on its pads.

That's a stack trace. It's listing the last steps the code made before crashing. The devs have asked to be sent photos of these, to help them find bugs.

I've pasted it on Discord, and there's a bot that recognizes these images and decodes them into addresses!

Thing that I wish existed: A command-line meme generator. Something that you could call like

memgen --template tintin-wednesday bubble2="Captain, it's Monday"

or

memegen -t surprised-pikachu label=CEO

or

memegen -t 3-spider-men head1=file:tobey.jpg head2=file:andrew.jpg head3=file:tom.jpg

Templates can be downloaded as separate packages (usually with more than one template) or created by the user. Text & images can also be placed manually using coordinates.

what weird edge cases am i missing now that apparently make it reasonable to disallow subtracting one time from another one?

scy,
@scy@chaos.social avatar

@cato Huh. That's interesting. I would've assumed that this works.

I mean one could argue that a time instance does not include a date and thus wraps around at midnight, but I mean it's pretty obvious what subtracting one time from another should result in. So Python is probably just being a dick here…?

scy,
@scy@chaos.social avatar

@cato FWIW there's an open feature request for this: https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/61469

The main thing that's missing seems to be "someone working on it" (and maybe a few real-life scenarios on why this is useful).
