🪐 it’s easy to think “fedi has a pedophile problem,” but don’t lose sight of the bigger picture that in fact the entire world and every community inside it has this problem. fedi is one of few places actively confronting the issue and making it visible, so you see it more here, you who aren’t victims of it feel it more here than a normal place where it’s kept hidden.

Y’all are doing good. You’re doing good work investigating, documenting, running whisper networks, keeping up with people proven dangerous, and keeping your communities safe. And a lot of you are doing this while remaining compassionate people and not normie performative “kill your local” violent power fantasy types who would just as soon punish the victims.

And the victims who took great risk to come forward, you’re the most courageous of all. We must always first prioritize the safety of the victims.

Keep doing what you’re doing. Keep learning more each time. Love and support each other so you aren’t broken by tragedy. It might feel like you see this play out again and again and again, but the alternative is nobody knows, nobody talks about it, but it’s still happening.
