Yes, this app killing behaviour is infuriating. That’s the reason I stay clear of miui/hyperOS smartphones. And the non-standard extensions, broken 3rd party wallpaper or the removal of the developer options for running services. Plus, warnings for turning on power user settings.
I know lots of people will say it’s useless bla bla bla, but hear me out. Xiaomi still allows bootloader unlocking, this means you can remove their spyware firmwaew and put a decent AOSP alternative, with “unlimited” updates, or add support via postmarketOS.
This phone will be future proofed for a decade, as people said the same thing about phones with 6GB/8GB ofnl RAMs a decade ago.
We don’t. It’s there, tech’s evolving. We get it. Same as super fast charging. LLMs are a use case where higher memory means better performance. So, those models can take advantage of the additional memory without having most of your apps reload left and right. Try the MLCchat app or the maid LLMs app sometime on a smartphone with 8gb of ram.
