@PurpCat this is why I stuck with Misskey instead of a fork. Misskey has had a longer cook time, and has code contributors that seem to have a decent track record. (Even if I don't like some of the changes they implement.) Plus being that they are Japanese they are less likely to insert politics into their projects.

I think that’s likely going to be less of a case over time, as it feels like anyone across any demographic or nation, roughly 25 years old or younger, seem to fall into this pattern, if they grew up primarily on the internet, where much of the mass hysteria online has been their environment of ‘normalcy’.
There’s not much opportunity for passed down customs and culture, if they’re Terminally Online and/or hikikomori, of which many specialist developers fall into.
@arcanicanis True, but Japan as a nation tends to be more socially conservative. They may end up sliding down the same path that western nations have gone, but I think it will be delayed somewhat.
@arcanicanis@shadowferret You forgot westaboos and that behavior. It doesn't matter if you grow up in a Muslim Asian country when you see the image of America projected from Hollywood. Then you get there and you realize it's fake and that NYC is full of garbage too. But eh, you see the high minimum wage and not the high expenses and how much your mom is a bitch and how you can't get along in your culture because of growing up in front of the TV and the next thing you know you'll want to put Allah aside to fly to the USA to suck dick.
The other day a friend of mine found a trans artist on Misskey so I did a little bit of surface level digging and found out that said person is actually a Japanese hikki (almost certainly, given the doujin circle was just one guy) and definitely a westaboo. Another was convinced some furry VRC player who identified as Japanese was some psyop to turn the Japanese nerds trans.
China knows, NK knows, and other countries know this. They know the center of all of this is the USA, and likely the men in tiny hats.
