We're in the middle of one of the largest bubble pops in history, as a byproduct of being in Late Stage Capitalism marked with no meaningful economic regulation, every single massive corporation is firing critical employees in order to reach maximum profit quotas, an endeavor that will lead to their collapses as the products they well, produce is exponentially getting worse and they don't have the infrastructure to rectify it in any meaningful way.
Industries that require specific individuals with very specialized skills, like game development studios will be the first ones to fall. Others will outsource their production to out of country work, and then fire them in a couple of years when THAT isn't profitable enough.
Being an Economist without humanitarian instincts is just a couple of steps removed from encouraging eugenics.
(We should kill people for not being profitable! :steamhappy:)
I'm not surprised economists are leading us towards this inevitable path of destruction.
