@mint @sjw @Moon i am also retarded and didn't notice the domain. i thought bluesky has a global janny feature which allows to restrict post federation through all instances

@mint @sjw @Moon @pomstan--80asehdb In theory it would. Here's the problem, right now BlueSky does not federate. There is no hard evidence on how it would work in the real world, other than BlueSky both banning whatever staff defines as lolisho artists and shitposters like it's a shit tier Mastodon instance.

They've got a paper out but right now it only federates via a dev sandbox, not the real site. You don't host an instance as much as you host a PDC and go through all this complicated crap.

@mint @Moon @pomstan--80asehdb @sjw Essentially a PDS is also the closest thing to an atproto Mastodon instance, but with how the federation works it sounds like a clusterfuck as opposed to just the simplicity of AP. Yes, it makes AP look simple.

@Moon @mint @pomstan--80asehdb @sjw Essentially, BlueSky somehow thinks it can avoid the same taint Mastodon has thanks to the flagship instance and behavior of many Mastodon instance owners.

They do this by moving the locus of control away, feeling that someone else should be the janny and that it'll totally take care of the "forum moderator" problem. What they fail to realize is that the only reason big tech sites seemed well moderated was explicitly due to their inaction.

It's only getting used because right now to some people it's the hot new shit (as users move back to Twitter.com).
