@nugger @hymenreaper You may need to temporarily explore prescription meth. A small but significant proportion of meth-needers present (usually in their late twenties to mid-thirties) because they think they're developing early-onset dementia. In reality, their lives have begun putting enough stress on their executive function that their ad-hoc coping strategies can no longer keep up.

It has its own set of consequences, but... something to keep in mind.

He could need choline.

@Humpleupagus @hymenreaper @nugger Solid "maybe", depending on diet and genetic factors.

Yeah. For memory loss, you'll want to check the three things, omega-3, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidylcholine. Each are essential to nueronal myelination. None may be the issue, but it's where I'd start before jumping elsewhere.

You have to be careful with phosphatidylserine though because it can dramatically tank cortisol, and to a point where people have a hard time staying awake, and even the next morning if taken before bed.

Acetylcholine is essential to memory systems. To make it, you need an acetyl group (e.g. from vinegar or acetyl l carnatine) and choline.

You can also increase choline availability by taking dmae (it's otc. I think merk or some pharma co modified it and made a patented form they sell for dementia) or cdp choline. Choline bitartrate doesn't cross the blood brain barrier, so the extent to which it can increase choline in the brain is limited.

@Humpleupagus @hymenreaper @nugger It's a worthy line of inquiry, but since such supplementation tinkering can become very involved to the point of being its own distraction cope, I'd tend to explore it on an "also" instead of "before" basis given the other issues that such memory trouble tends to exist alongside.
