bro LinkedIn is so fucking invasive I'm sacred to click on emails they send me. Some random asshole will probably get an email saying "Crab read our email notifying him that you posted a new post!"
@icst man don't get me started on Facebook.
They lie about their image sizes in search results and it makes it so they flood the results for HD images when in reality they are 64x64 thumbnails
@Zergling_man@icst the only disadvantage of blocking Facebook is that have a near monopoly on image SEO and often times the ONLY way to find an image is downloading one of their thumbnails and then reverse image searching that to find the original
oh and it started with 15 emails like "hey retard are you there? all i want is 15 minutes please 🙏 " and then for some reason she thought the next step would be adding me on that hellhold
@pasture@RustyCrab I refuse to use it. the last place I was working before I quit for poast asked me during the interview phase if I had a linked in and I told them if it was a requirement that I'd like to terminate the interview
@TeaTootler@pasture@graf I've been told my multiple long time industry people I know that jobs are more or less impossible to get now without a LinkedIn. Employers will just go to that and if you don't have one they give up and move on in 10 seconds.
@mischievoustomato@pasture@RustyCrab@TeaTootler@graf I've been applying to places over the last couple months and it didn't even hit me not having a linked in could be a factor lol. I hate social media so much (Except for fedi).
@graf@pasture@RustyCrab I did the same thing as you. I interviewed at an engineering company and the recruiter asked the same thing. I told him that no, I don't have one and two, I don't want to work for a company who hires people based on a person's social media popularity.
@pasture one time I had some god damn internet weirdo dox me and message my former coworker on LinkedIn to ask me a question on a post I made on an obscure programming forum. To this day that's the most surreal shit I've ever had happen to me.
@Zergling_man yeah I would need to disable all of that from my "normie" work setup and I'm not entirely sure how to do that without bogging down everything else
@RustyCrab Of the ones I've tried, they've all been a bit schizo except thunderbird, and it's... A mozilla product.
It's to the point that I'm wondering how much work it would be to just write my own.
@Zergling_man@RustyCrab it's pretty easy if you're using g-suite or microsoft. Just poke around in the settings (assuming your org allows you to do so).
you can always individually allow media for an email.
