Next here we have Bernadoodles (bernese mountain dog/poodle). I won't lie, the few I met in person were cute. However...
Bernadoodles are the WORST for grooming. You are mixing a curly coat dog that was meant to get wet, with a dog that has a really thick double coat with an oily outer layer to have water sort of drip off them. They are polar opposite coat types for what they are designed to do.
It is a myth that poodles don't shed - they absolutely do shed, it's just that their curly coat tends to keep the shed trapped until you brush/wash the dog. So you have this curly outer layer that traps hair in, now mixed with a both thick and double layer coat; this not only causes severe matting of the fur (which is painful, causes lesions and sores and even infections), it is also now difficult to tell there is matting, because it's all in the thick undercoat.
This phenomonon happens whenever you mix any curly coat breed with a non-curly coat (or non hairless) breed. So basically all doodles are affected.
