@BigTony I'm sure it had to do with the time it came out. Steve Wik left RWS after Postal 3.
Also RWS used to do stuff like post hot girls on their site because it was the 00s and they went ham with the "booth babes" idea, posting photos of hot girls with Gary Coleman before tying it in the game.

@coolboymew@BigTony this is what happens when something edgy to a gaming journalist because they didn't have the budget to hire someone like Max Clifford to promote their game ends up as safe edgy.
To be honest they were safe edgy from at least the Postal 2 era. Their enemies were Jack Thompson and overlapping Indians with Muslims as al-Qaeda and that's really it. The eventual slide of irreverent South Park tier edge to the corpo-approved liberalism was basically written in the cards. I could have predicted this five years back minimum.
@DrRyanSkelton@BigTony Also flash game tier gross out/edgy humor was part of the appeal. The cat silencer, the gas can mechanic, pissing, etc. was shocking to some.
In 2024 it's no longer shocking, especially in a world utterly desensitized by infinite access to porn and murder videos. But on top of that, you just know RWS isn't going to go anywhere like they used to back in the day when they remade Postal 1 and cut out the ending because "it wasn't shocking anymore".
The ending? You're thinking you're shooting up a school but you can't kill the kids and when they get you then you end up in the nuthouse. That should tell you what happened to RWS, they're slowly turning into the "aging punk" stereotype everyone takes the piss out of on this side of the web.
