Graf-sama just donated 1.488 XMR (~$300) to NCD. Part of the resilience of the fediverse is the fact that we as instance administrators support each other because we want the decentralized network to survive.

We want to provide you with what you want, but the simple fact of the matter is that datacenters, bandwidth and hardware aren't free. This is a community effort.
