@pasture na i think ive mentioned my situation to you before, issue is im in a large company, strict educational requirement, moved from help desk to development, dont have a degree, cant get title change, and have an arrest record atm so cant just go looking for a new job.
@pasture yeeeee, arrest record is real problem, i have 1k dollar certs and 2 years experience in projects now, so finding a new job for this specific kinda work should probably be easy once i dont have to worry about background checks.
@RustyCrab I am a code monkey for a consultancy firm - that has a strict hierarchy, that was suddenly moved from help desk to development. Basically i dont met the educational requirements for the organization and im waiting on my arrest from psychotic break to be expunged (should be like next 6 months) to find a job that doesnt have these retarded policies to pay me the same wage.
@RustyCrab but yes basically i should be making about 2x as much, instead im getting standard raises and pay for my recorded position within the company.
@a7 I didn't get treated that bad, but my company also gave me a fake promotion by dropping requirements for the title from SE III to SE II. They did that literally just for me. I'm the only one in the entire company that holds that title. Obviously no pay increase but sounds more impressive on a resume I guess.
@a7 it's such a bizarre situation. They literally had a software managerial role available, nobody was using it, so they dropped the seniority requirements, made me a manager and then gave me no team to manage. The office politics of this company defy explanation.
@a7@RustyCrab Some think-tanker coins a term during brunch with their fake working buddies. Then journalists spread the term and seep it into wider consciousness. Then it becomes real.
@RustyCrab@a7 Yes, but the term legitimizes the occurrence. Naming it turns it from something that may happen in some workplaces to the newer tool to be implemented everywhere.
