@PNS I still don't know what you mean or where this information of these goods being stolen is coming from. I just re-watched the video and didn't see anything there that "jumped out at me" as suspect.
@adiz@PNS given the decriminalization of shoplifting, yeah theres almost a 100% chance they're stolen. They go in and fill big garbage bags full of stuff and police can't stop them. This is very likely where all that stuff winds up.
However, fuck amazon. The products here are likely higher quality than anything you can buy from them now.
@RustyCrab Assuming these markets are all stolen goods, of course that's bad. Amazon, sure, wouldn't be much better. In either case you get local businesses hurt and wages depressed which torpedos local economy. @PNS
@PNS@adiz nigga have you used amazon recently? They literally lie about the product brands you're getting. I've had way more luck buying from shitty startup shops in Shenzhen. This is bad but amazon is cancer. They even treat their software engineers like shit. Limiting their growth is based.
@RustyCrab I got a completely different product vs. what I ordered from them the other day and now have to wait an additional week for the replacement to come in. If they fuck this order up too I'm just gonna stop using Amazon and buy from other more niche marketplaces tailored for the sort of items I'm looking for. @PNS
@PurpCat I use eBay for things. Amazon has just gotten so god-awful across the board with their service and prices and stuff that it's not really worth it anymore outside of the fact they killed out much competition. @RustyCrab@PNS
@adiz@PNS yeah Ive had 3 different VERY EXPENSIVE items I ordered from IN A ROW turn out to be knockoffs. All from "verified brands" with high seller ratings. People will tell you "oh just make sure you're buying from the real brands themselves" but these comments come from ignorance. Amazon puts verified badges and gold starts with 80 billion + fake positive seller ratings on bootleg brands literally constantly. Even with a direct link to what a company testifies as their official brand, amazon mixes SKUs of both knockoffs and real ones so long as they are the same. EVEN IF you order from the seller you 100% know is official, you still have a 50/50 chance of getting a fake.
Amazon is one of the richest corps on the planet. They could solve this of they wanted to. They dont want to.
