@Dan_Hulson i dragged some of my best poast friends and my gf to see babymetal live and we got super drunk and had a great time highly recommend. very high energy from them
@Dan_Hulson i called gleason during the middle of it because he renamed the project branch from develop to main or something owt and i was freaking out thinking it will break something then i sent text him a jpeg of gf and told him to ask his gf if she liked her outfit
@graf You lived a far more interesting life than me I only seen a few groups at a place called The Sugar Mill it was a good place as it were in a town known for piss ups and people drank all the time there so you could make a few days outa of it. I seen a few tribute bands though innit
@Dan_Hulson i took gf to TOOL front row too probably the most expensive concert tickets I've ever bought but it was worth it except James Maynard Keenan crabwalking across the stage for most of the show
they had alex lifeson from rush do a song with them it was fucking cool
@graf I never listened to TOOL quite a few people used say they were shit so I never bothered. So where do I get started being red pilled on em Brother Graf
@Dan_Hulson definitely Ænima, then Undertow, Lateralus, Opiate, 10,000 days and Fear Innoculum, in that order. do not listen to other people they are wrong
here's the best track from Ænima, Forty Six & 2 in MQA FLAC
@Dan_Hulson here's Jambi, the track from the video. it's off 10,000 days but its much heavier and carries throughout the song. plus it uses a Talkbox. peter frampton and only a couple others have ever bothered trying. basically it's a tube that goes in your mouth and modulates sound based on how opened or closed your mouth is
this one is almost our file upload limit clocking in at 96 MB
@KingOfWhiteAmerica@Dan_Hulson your guess is as good as mine. it's entire purpose is to route the sound to your mouth to be picked up by a microphone. it's not exactly the craziest thing and it's not rocket science to use. i think its cool
@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica WHAT Daft Punk and CHVRCHES are what I use to tune any audio setup I'm tasked with managing because I've heard the studio masters of both and know what they're supposed to sound like. how have you never heard daft punk? oh maybe because french
had to download the FLAC because my MQA was too big to upload
@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica sure you've heard it before. Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and others in the 80s used them as a novelty. hell, Bon Jovi's "hit" Livin on a Prayer has one. you probably just didnt notice because you didn't know what it was. you will pick it out when you hear it now invidious.poast.org/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk
@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica brother hulson when you set up a Marantz and Klipsch hi-fi you seek only the best sounding audio and one gravitates toward daft punk. carpenter brut too. im sorry the french make such good music. maybe it's because they're so oppressed by all the immigrants macron is flying in en masse
@graf@KingOfWhiteAmerica Yes carpenter brut aka Frank Hueso does some bangers so does Perturbator but that is likely his English blood pushing him forward innit
@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica i turned my gf into abit of a snob with fidelty when i gave her tidal she refuses to use spotify or anything else and when she here i cant even listen with klipsch computer speakers it has to go through the hifi. now everywhere we go she asks me "is this audiophile"
@graf@KingOfWhiteAmerica You don't miss decent audio until you don't have it I used to always have a nice set-up in me cars and I nice surround system in the living room and now I don't you really notice the difference
@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica i put wastelad and pasture on our family plan and even he made a comment about night and day sound quality. i sold him on the same marantz and klipsch setup i have except i think he bought the smaller bookshelves without the sub but there's no better way to listen to music under 10k
my dad had a marantz given to me when he passed
i own a marantz i will give to my son or daughter when i pass
they will give both plus the one they own to my grandkids when they pass
@tyler@Dan_Hulson@KingOfWhiteAmerica the current gen marantz stuff is made by denon since their merger -- fine -- i dont have an issue with denon. but when it comes to records especially pressed prior to 180g vinyl there is no better and warmer sound replication than something like a tube amp + belt driven turntable
@graf@Dan_Hulson Well good good; went and learned something new today. Hindsight is 20/20, but until this morning I’d not have been able to answer that in a round of Trivial Pursuit.
@KingOfWhiteAmerica@Dan_Hulson I'm King of useless trivia. I used to go to general/music trivia nights at the local bar just because I know I'd drink for free tbh
@Dan_Hulson will give this a listen in a moment brother hulson im listening to their other stuff. there's something weird about western-appearing japanese women. like the one with the light brown twin tails, she reminds me of aerith from ff7 for some reason. but they all try to hide their epicanthal folds so it makes it surreal to watch
