@Miyako i'm trying to get a full x68k setup going soon, thanks for the suggestion I should get my SS10 out ngl but I should get a SCSI to SD adapter for it.
@Miyako it can do computer art for sure, ditto with the pc98.
When I get my life in order/get around to doing more art shit (I am likely going to save up as opposed to buy more computers, I do need a fully working FM Towns though) my plan is to do some art on one of the PC-98s.
@Miyako@PurpCat As I understand outside of gaming it was mainly bought for sound and graphics work, office applications did exist but they were definitely very deemphasized compared to the PC-98xx series, also IIRC the X68000 community was one of the earliest and most enthusiastic adopters of FOSS and GNU software in Japan
@allison@Miyako the x68k chipset is really amazing for doing computer graphics on, it's high res/high color compared to the PC-98 and many of the others.
It can do 65536 colors at 512x512 and 64 at 1024x1024.
@PurpCat@Miyako also not entirely related, but the state of software preservation for x68k is way better than pc98 or fm towns, nfggames & co have been doing amazing work there
@allison@Miyako I know a guy or two doing some FMT stuff, I've personally bought and dumped a few PC98 stuff when I have money and am not being burnt out online.
There's some guys focusing on games in the Discord too, I know krugman is for sure.
