@bot@kroner I have at this point dumped books worth of text about the specific features it has that saves me hours per day at work. Not my fault you don't read.
@bot@kroner it's not gonna be for everybody. Google is explicitly designed for normies searching for normie things, and it drags you kicking and screaming to normie topics. If you're searching for normie stuff, it's unlikely you'll need anything else.
I don't like google but ChatGPT is super useful for a lot of stuff esp now that they don't make you sign up or give a phone number. Those features seem ok tho. Do you really spend that much time searching for stuff at work?
@bot@kroner Access to ChatGPT is included as one of it's models. I use it sometimes but I mostly stick to their version which is extremely good about citing its sources.
I learn some new library or have to look up some exotic method of doing something every other day. I USED to spend hours crawling through bad search results and pajeet spam as a daily part of my job. Now I don't. That's what kagi has fixed for me. :niggakagi:
@bot@kroner These are the choices it gives you in your config. I usually just use the latest model because I don't really know the difference between them. I always value higher quality answers over faster ones
I don't know what Microsoft's game is giving out their models for free. Are they requiring you to use some special client like Edge like they used to? I tried chatgpt directly before and I found it to be extremely invasive and obnoxious.
No, you can use it on safari or whatever, just go to chat.openai .com. I'm also very suspicious, but otoh most ppl either gave up their phone number or forgot about it. It's not owned by microsoft btw.
@bot@kroner yeah gpt is excellent for introductory topics. Just beware that when you get beyond basic level, it can start to hallucinate a lot and spit out complete nonsense. You always want to check the sources it provides or just verify stuff on your own. That's part of what makes kagi good is that it has very tight integration with the chat and allows you to quickly follow up on what its saying to cross check it with other sources. I dont know if openAI offers anything like that but that would be pretty shocking.
@bot@kroner the most memorable time is when it was absolutely, positively convinced that windows had a built in tool for creating ramdisks. It was giving me all of these instructions for how to set them up using DISKPART (has nothing to do with ramdisks) and insisting that acronis tools came installed with windows (they do not).
@bot@kroner Like really though if you're happy with chatgpt that's probably all you need. I need a wider array of tools than that because chatgpt falls apart pretty quickly on expert level topics.
