@arcana@sun the only person I was ever truly gagged at and surprised about, along with many other women (who will never admit it) is Nikki Tutorials and she handled the blackmail well.
I think she was able to blend in because of the drag queen makeup she helped normalize alongside other gay men like james charles or manny mua and she was big and tall, but apparently dutch women are tall. I never realize how big she is in person because of her first person videos and such.
@teratology@arcana I don't say this to be mean and I hope it doesn't come out wrong but some trans people pass fine if you use the standard of what irl cis women look like in all their diversity and not the highly crafted and idealized "celebrity woman" looks like.
@leyonhjelm@sun@teratology I saw something earlier that I hope was satire in which somebody was claiming that every famous woman of the last 200 years was trans and had such colorful descriptors as "Drag Queen Victoria"
@leyonhjelm@sun@teratology Yep, trans people live in their heads rent free, it's like a severe mental disease I'd say, they can't be healthy individuals doing stuff like that
@sun@leyonhjelm@teratology Well that's what it was, literally an entire thread of "every woman from the last 200 years who is famous is trans" including Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, they really hated her
@sun@arcana I do not reference celebrities when it comes to passability tbh, but I get what you are saying. This is what I actually mean as indicators:
adams apple
hairlines
hands and feet, head size and other dimorphic traits like shoulder width and hips
bad fashion sense calls attention very quickly more than any of the above
having obvious injections or fillers in your ass that are in no way naturally proportional and proceeding to lie about it (it was so bad another trans mutual even said it was liess)
male dominated hobbies such as programming, a lot of the time (the stereotype is painfully true don't come for me lol)
@arcana@sun lmao its so specific but ngl a lot of women do this shit in general (esp celebrities) but if you are trans, yeah lying about fillers and plastic surgery is more noticable
@sun@icedquinn@shrimp@teratology Oh that's interesting, makes a lot of sense in that case. I suppose the whole concept seems a whole lot less disgusting to me now compared to when I believed that people were basically having a bunch of plastic put inside them
@sun@icedquinn@shrimp@teratology One of those things I just don't understand really. Logically it would seem to be something that would cause people to be less interested I'd think, like comparing the appeal of a plastic flower rather than one from a meadow
Surely people are more interested in authenticity and natural beauty?
@icedquinn@sun@shrimp@teratology Well, that's to cover up blemishes is it not or to have a face that more favorably responds to light in the case of actors? I suppose it can go very over the top to the degree people look akin to clowns but I don't imagine people find that attractive
Personally I tend to steer clear of such products as I have heard they can be quite bad for the skin and I don't have any blemishes on my face that need to be covered
