@Dan_Hulson your thoughts on this? putting together a quiet, low power mini-pc to connect to 3gbit fiber here. made a poast earlier but people ignored me so i did more research
@graf@Dan_Hulson If i may interject here i would recommend getting higher speed memory with lower cas latency ie 6000mhz cl32 as you will notice the difference, overall its a pretty nice little mini pc
@ZMAN1337@graf Memory speeds are a bit of a meme after a certain point you gain too little. you probably talking what 5% difference? You also can start running into more instability on certain boards too
@Dan_Hulson@ZMAN1337 yeah you have to back off the speed more ram you add. tried to round my desktop 7700X ram up to 128GB but it was unstable as shit until backing down to 4800 and even then it was flaky
@graf@Dan_Hulson@ZMAN1337 Ram uses a fair bit of power. The more you have and the faster it goes the harder it pushes all the circuits that provide power to it.
@gentoobro@Dan_Hulson@ZMAN1337 wait til you find out im packing two 4TB PCIe 4.0 NVMes in this thing while additionally tacking on a 20TB in a usbc enclosure. it wont be silent, but it also wont scream. it's fairl quiet here so im trying to build the best bang-for-buck (server utilizing 3gbit fiber uplink) while being quiet and (relatively) low power
@graf Nice Brother Graf. Also, those Ryzen 6900hx have a 680M integrated GPU that are supposed to be surprisingly good at gaming as well. I was waiting for that integrated GPU to come out a while back as I was thinking of getting a Ryxen laptop innit
@Dan_Hulson@graf Too bad they never made any affordable laptops that actually use th x80M graphics as their only gpu and were priced accordingly, almost every laptop built with that class of chip has a discreet gpu and a price to match... made me nuts looking for one, seemed like the ideal small low power, inexpensive laptop apu, but.. where are they?

@graf@Dan_Hulson ohh, I liked the Go, but didn't realize it's oled, or forgot.. that's a very significant value add.. need to keep and eye out for sales, who knows how long pi is gonna take.. that's freesync? or fixed? eh, i can dig up the details.. ya aint my secretary.
@HonkHonkBoom@Dan_Hulson go pick one up at best buy and give it a feel. the screen is beautiful and it's absolutely one of the major selling features. it's kinda heavy for bedtime gaming and the battery life is kinda shit (2-2.5 hr gaming) but I am very satisfied
