because it doesn't work :abyss:

@RustyCrab Why doesn't every Linux Distro and every OS ever use tiling instead of floating windows by default?
It's just better. Nobody wants to search for windows below windows below windows and have windows not full screen ever.

@p11 I honestly do not know. I intend to try tiling on gnome 45 when the extensions get updated

@RustyCrab No idea about Gnome.

First I used the default of Ubuntu (Unity I guess), and when I tried different window managers I quickly ended up with i3, configured it once to my liking, and since then never used a different one.

collappsar,

@RustyCrab It does work if it's actually packaged correctly. Kubuntu is bad. KDE Neon is great.

@collappsar fedora KDE spin was shitting out on me left and right with basic usage.

@RustyCrab works as well as everything else (badly)

@deprecated_ii I dunno gnome is limited in options but so far it's been nearly flawless in terms of operation. I couldn't even boot a live usb with KDE without running into a bunch of bugs in 5 minutes.

@RustyCrab the ganome is luring you into a false sense of security, be wary :gnomed:

@deprecated_ii one bad update and it becomes the rape dwarf

deprecated_ii,
@deprecated_ii@poa.st avatar

@RustyCrab nothing can be trusted because even when a bit of software accidentally pauses development in a high quality state, it's guaranteed that in 12-18 months the devs are going to fuck it up

RustyCrab,
@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co avatar

@deprecated_ii on windows the general rule is "find an update you like and hold onto it for dear life". I have kept up to date on linux with no issues but thats because I've only been on Debian based stuff. Not sure what to expect from fedora but it's been nice not living in 2005

RustyCrab,
@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co avatar

@deprecated_ii I will give you this, the gnome software suite is fucking horrible but I can install KDEs stuff (the packages that work at least)

@RustyCrab it's better than gnome but also heavy as shit
