Why do we need to add things on the rainbow flag isnt it supposed to be all inclusive already doesnt adding more stuff to it imply there are people it excludes if it has to specifically include some of them
@skye i would boost this 100x if i could... i feel that people adding so many extra stripes, especially with that triangle thing, are saying "these people are pushing in on MY community, and they are only welcome when i specify it"
rainbow flags with extra stripes are my instant "person not worth vibing with" red flag... no thanks
@dispenser@skye The arrow on the left is meant to symbolise the underrepresentation of transgender, black, and brown people in the LGBTQ community, but its placement is meant to symbolise the lack of progress
However, I do agree with you that adding extra onto the flag just makes no sense
I have seen a version where there’s a bisexual triangle on the right, which makes no sense because bisexuality is represented in the original Pride flag itself (and also implies something about bisexual identities???)
At this point though, I don’t see why we need to add extra colours and shapes without overloading the flag with meaning
I think the Progress Pride flag as it is is probably the “best” evolution of the original Pride flag, just because it deliberately chooses to highlight those under-represented groups in the queer community
