Hello

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@graf Pleromer ran out of space

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@graf LIkewise, they haven't got to me yet.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@dcc @graf

I'm setting up external storage and moving the DB to it so this doesn't happen again (for a long time).

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@graf @dcc

Well... :nana_smug:
It should have similar IOPS right? Like 1000 is enough for pleroma right? :nana_smug:

Or am I actually going to have to pony up money for a larger NVME?

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@dcc @graf

Well that's what they advertise it as but Hetzner IOPS are limited to 7k IOPS on NVMEs so I actually get worse performance than your SATAs.

If I just had this shit on Danksquad it wouldn't be an issue, but I don't.

@kirby@lab.nyanide.com avatar

ugh the only complaint i have with modern pleroma fe is that its so fucking slow meanwhile i go on fse and the fe is buttery smooth like wtf

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@kirby "Modern" it's been fuck slow for 3 years now.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@dcc @kirby

it works on a t61 lol

I didn't ask what it works on it's slow as shit. It's been getting slow as shit with each update, but since replies have been ported.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@dcc @kirby No it hasn't Mastodon doesn't shit the bed when you load a hellthread. Go load 2.4 and browse any hell thread.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@kirby @dcc And guess what it didn't use to do that. It's the fucking reply merge that Soapbox forced on the network. Read as the "the subject line" in your posts.

Ever since then pleroma runs like fucking dogshit.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@kirby @dcc

Ask Pete about when Alex introduced a "federation breaking commit" circa 2021, and why he's not on good terms with Pleroma's git. And no it's not cause he hates trannies, it's cause he acted like a fucking dickhead.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@dcc @kirby

And guess what BLOATS FAST.

Amazing.

okay so while my gaming desktop has pretty good built in audio, my laptop that I use to watch movies on DOES NOT and in fact sounds horrific. So I guess I'm looking for a cheap DAC/amp for that. I looked at "mid range" ones and they're like $3,000.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab Get a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or Solo

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab I have a Gen 2. I find the volume loud enough for basically anything I'd need it for, I'm driving Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X which are 48 Ohm so they are plenty loud, I wouldn't go higher than 250-300 ohms with your cans.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab Higher Ohms higher resistance, the power you will need to get those to get to volume.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab

Word of warning stay away from anything that needs their mixer software. I have the 6i6 also and it's basically a paper weight because it was required and is not linux supported. I haven't looked at if the 4i4 needs it.

You'll need something with an Amp if you want to drive the headphones clearly.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab It's a stack of fuck shit on top of itself nigga

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab

Yes you take LINE OUT and plug it into your amp, and then amp into phones.

Audio interfaces turn digital signal into electrical signal for your driver (phones), amps increase amplitude of those electrical signals.

DACs and Interfaces can have amps internally but dedicated amps have more power.

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab Can confirm they are shitty on windows. But on Mac and Linux they work fine.

when you use a broken computer and brag about it

splitshockvirus,
@splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.network avatar

@RustyCrab My restart command does not work for some reason. I have removed the front panel buttons because my cats jump on my PC and press them.

I restart my computer by turning off my PSU and bios turns it back on when it detects power.

I use Arch btw.
