Oh nvm, I follow your posts but I haven't joined the community yet so it shows up as 'random'

I’d like a telephoto lens on a regular Pixel (not the Pro) and video out.

Give me fucking physical keyboards, Moto DROID 4 style, with a screen under 5.5". Fuck you, Steve Jobs, and fuck every company that desperately tries to copy Apple

And, something that would be extremely useful that I’ve only seen on small number of Samsung phones: an easy adapter to output to a TV or something similarly big. Bam, instant computer.

xyguy, (edited )

My dad used to have a phone what had a legitimate micro-hdmi output on it. I can’t remember the exact model Some kind of DROID I think.

Edit It was the DROID X.

You can get USB-C to HDMI adapters that serve this purpose. I bought one a while back for like $15 on Amazon along with a cheap HDMI switch, and will use it to flip a spare monitor to watch video sometimes when I'm not working especially hard.

BigClive on youtube talked about his new work phone made for engineers. It had a FLIR infrared camera!

I wish more phones had different spots for power buttons. On my MOTO G60s there are 4 same size buttons, volume is in the middle top is the dumbest assistant button and blow vol is the power button. Guess which 2 buttons I end up hitting instead of the vol keys?

What about making a burner google account and then creating a google voice number?

Sat, to askburggit in How to use Telegram without a phone number?

You can just make your number private and prevent people from being able to find you by it. If your issue is the account creation itself then at best get a prepaid number or use one from a 4g modem.

rinkan,

You can just make your number private and prevent people from being able to find you by it.

Telegram themselves would still know who you are, and would be able to sell that information, or it could be stolen in a data breach. For some people that’s not such a big deal, but it’s not really an acceptable option for those that really care about privacy.

Sat,

I mean that’s fair. Though if you use your phone they will probably store its hardware information as well. Then you will probably not get around having to use a burner number.

rinkan,

Yeah, letting your device talk directly to them would make the whole thing moot, of course. blobcatlaugh2

Thanks for this. I’m on android 14 on Pixel 7 and had no idea you could pin items in the share tray.

Now I’ve been able to pin my two most frequently shared contacts and my most two used apps.

Your pain has been my gain so thanks but sorry.

I wish they would just allow 3rd party share menus, like launchers

stepanzak, to android in I got android 14 and the share sheet still sucks

URLCheck is great if you often use the share menu to open things in different apps.

evo, to android in I got android 14 and the share sheet still sucks

I feel like most people don’t understand that there is a default share menu for the OS providers but the vast majority of apps create their own (which are significantly worse).

The Android 14 share menu works great for me. The people and apps I share stuff with are always there. 🤷

I would really really love to turn off the quick share options in the system share menu. Unfortunately, this is not an option.

Glad to hear. It’s not an all the time thing, though. The network becomes flaky every now and again and sometimes the packet routing just flat out dies for no apparent reason. Hence, why Burggit is seen as being down sometimes.

Your best bet is to remove the contacts, edit the backup manually and then re-restore it.

maniel,
@maniel@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah, in many editors Ctrl+H does search and replace

JWBananas,
@JWBananas@startrek.website avatar

And if the backup was merged into existing contacts, just take a new one. Then you can purge all contacts instead of trying to sort through the broken ones.
