@syzygy@sneeden thankfully most of these bands are courteous enough to actually put out instrumentals of everything they do (which means they're probably aware it's bad)
@RustyCrab@syzygy The reason these bands used to release instrumentals is because they started as one man instrumental projects being shared in forums like sevenstring.org.
Once they got enough notoriety, they formed complete bands but naturally most of them suffered though a lot of member changes along the way which made it harder for people to get used to their sound, specially vocalists, so some them keep releasing their albums as instrumentals for a while.
Give Animals as Leaders and Chimp Spanner a try, those were kept 100% instrumental
@sneeden Abstracts, Twilight is the first one. I love the guitar playthroughts of both but the vocals leave me thinking "get good or leave that shit out"
@RustyCrab It's kind of funny and sad at the same time because, for at least the periphery guy, he has improved tremendously.
If you hate his voice, you should listen to their first album (self-titled) there's noticeable autotune in some parts, and his performance live was utter shit.
@sneeden yeah I plan to go through more of their stuff. Abstracts appears to be a one hit wonder situation, but I've already come across several songs I like of periphery's.
It may be a moot point anyway because I can't listen to music with lyrics while I work. Completely fucks up my language processing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8frdjeVUF8
