@ObjackedMorality@TrevorGoodchild across the fediverse there's ~30k active servers with over 6 million users total that we mostly federate with (a lot have us blocked tho) so you have 100x less of an echo chamber here than you do on gab
@Clapp@ObjackedMorality@TrevorGoodchild we're defederated by over 1500 servers for wrong think. because a user here called somebody a tranny. or because somebody saw a user post a swastika emoji, or literally because another server blocked us. there's a list called "fediblock" of instances that libtards are too scared to interact with. you can get added to that list for even "talking to the usual suspects" (poast, ncd etc)
@graf@Clapp@ObjackedMorality@TrevorGoodchild Sounds a lot like Reddit to me. If you even join or make a post in some subreddits (r/MensRights, r/conservative, etc) you'll end up on a blocklist and find half the site is locked out to you.
Of course, Gab was no different in it's own way; there were blocklists going around of who to block if they were a Nazi, etc. It's pathetic to think someone would get on SOCIAL media and then block their way to not having to interact with anybody that didn't fall into lockstep with them.

There's at least four other clusters of people on the fediverse, and those clusters often - but not always - refuse to talk to each other. We usually identify these clusters by which software their instances run - it's not a clean split, but it usually works. Lemmy is where ex-redditors hang out, Mastodon is where ex-Facebooks hang out, Pleroma is where we are. There's also a "Pedi" which is full of pedophiles, and Misskey is where Japanese people hang out.
There's a small handful of instances (not poast) where you actually can interact with a few people from each of these clusters sometimes.
Literally just jump on TWKN/global timeline and DRINK STRAIGHT FROM THE HOSE. Why would you only talk to people on poast when you can talk to just about anyone on the internet?
