@Hoss I was under the impression that when they reclassified MPD as DID, they changed the definition from having multiple compartmentalized personalities to inability to sustain a personality, but it looks like they just renamed it because the old term is poisoned. All I know is that all high-profile cases either were sensationalized or fake, or resulted from psychiatrists gaslighting their PTSD patients into inventing new personalities.
isn't it really really funny how you never/very very very rarely saw people claiming to have multiple people in their heads prior to 2020? isn't that just a bit wacky and uncharacteristic?
@istvan@Hoss I do suppose it depends on where you're looking but genuinely, prior to 2020 the only person i knew online who claimed to have multiple personality was Kevin Knipe. Even on the fedi it didn't become a thing until maybe 2021-ish and now you cant go 5 seconds on the canceldon or ackoma side of the network without finding one.
@Hoss its not bogus but it is often appropriated by people on the interwebs who just wanna feel special. i actually have it but you dont see me making it my identity
