A Ph.D was in my shop talking to me about copper. Insisted Turtle Island injuns made everything with just cold hammering.

Apparently his hangup was he didn't know if pre-Columbian metworlworking had the mastery of heat to anneal metal.

I tried to explain copper anneals at 400 C and liquefies at 1083 C.

Primitive cultures bisque fired pottery at 538 C (modern bisque is 980 C) in a pit. If you can fire your pottery at 538 C and copper melts at 1083 C, you can toss it in the pit and have it come out annealed.

Just know 1/4" of steel is a lot less than I want in the tang of a weapon that may take impact. Same goes for that 1/16" brass.

Seems more suitable for opening letters or slaughtering tomatoes.

So the fedi spammer is now just sending an image of a link to his discord instead of a wall of chinese glyphs.

This makes even server-wide post filtering ineffective.

The only real solution is to limit/block insufficiently administered servers that allow the abusive behavior (automated account registration and spamming).

OCR + other tricks could help in this specific instance.

The spammer has made the flaws in Mastodon's technical moderation capabilities quite apparent. Needs spamassassin.
